I define myself as a quality analyst. Having spent around 10 years in ThoughtWorks I have worked on a fair number of assignments where I have helped establish the quality of many systems. Recently, in one of the projects where I was the QA(Quality Analyst) lead, I was offered a QA/IM(Iteration Manager) role. To be honest, being a QA, I had never planned to sign up for an IM role but I realised that this opportunity would provide me a different perspective of looking at the system holistically. So I took it, acknowledging the fact that balancing the two roles would be difficult at times.
I have been approached by bright, young QA s who have expressed interest in pursuing the IM role. I am writing this to convey my thoughts and experiences as an IM, coming from a core QA background.
Idea of this blog is to share my understanding of the QA/IM role, discuss the IM role in further details and then understand the career path of an IM .
